Assistant Director of Financial Aid for Federal Programs

 

Tallahassee State College is excited to announce a full-time opening for the position of Assistant Director – P01923 with the Office of Financial Aid, Federal Programs. We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community.

 

What You’ll Do
As Assistant Director, you’ll play a key role in assisting in the formulation of financial aid policies, interpreting federal and state regulations, supervising staff handling aid programs, and monitoring scholarships to prevent over-awarding. Extensive knowledge of Federal and Florida state financial aid rules is required. The position also involves collaborating on system implementations and supervising the VA coordinator, along with a strong commitment to exceptional student service.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of cross-training activities for the financial aid staff.  Coordinating dissemination of financial aid information to the consumer as it relates to the application process and policies of the Financial Aid Office.  Counseling students on financial aid.  Assisting in implementing computer systems.
  • Assisting with the implementation of policies stemming from federal regulations updates to ensure compliance.  Maintaining statistical data and letters pertaining to financial aid programs, and consumer information and helping to maintain an office policy and procedures manual.  Assisting the Director of Financial Aid with monitoring and coordinating financial aid satisfactory progress in relation to financial aid and college policies.
  • Managing all Financial Aid programs under the purview of the Director.  Supervising and coordinating all the activities of three technicians.  Supervising Financial Aid Technicians in data entry of financial aid awards.  Acting as a liaison with other college offices.  Representing the Director of Financial Aid as needed.
  • Keeping abreast of fund balances in order not to exceed program allocations and assisting the Director with reconciliation of disbursements.  Coordinates the balancing of all funds with the Business Office.  Responsible for awarding and verification procedures of student applications as mandated by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Manages the Financial Aid Advisors assigned and is responsible for their training and workload assignment.

 

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of four years of experience in student financial aid.  One year of experience must be at a supervisory level and one year of processing of Title IV Financial Aid Programs.
  • Master’s degree, preferred, with a minimum of three years of experience in student financial aid. One year of experience must be at the supervisory level and one year of processing of Title IV Financial Aid Programs.
