Job Duties

Serve as the Program Manager for the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program, including the day-to-day operations of managing student FWS awards and monitoring FWS earnings; the continuous monitoring to ensure that BANNER, OneUSG, Payroll and General Ledger accounts related to FWS are accurate and reconciled; provide timely and strategic analysis and reporting to ensure compliance with all FWS regulations. Serve as a member of the management team of the Outreach and Client Services unit within the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.  Serve as a resource to assist financial aid applicants and recipients and participate in outreach and client Services under the direction of the Associate Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the technical and functional tasks required to ensure that OFSA is in compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards including but not limited to the review of every aid applicant and recipient each semester.
  • Manage the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program annual allocation from the US Department of Education, ensuring compliance with the associated Federal regulations, as well as all University System of Georgia and Georgia Tech polices related to student employment; including the supervision of the day-to-day operations of job placements and award/earnings monitoring.
  • Coordinate outreach and services for very special cohorts including but not limited to Work-Study or Study Abroad and/or Foreign Study programs, Veterans, First Generation initiatives, the EXCEL program for learners with mental disabilities, and degree seekers also taking non degree courses and/or our on-line programs.
  • Represent the unit in meetings and presentations with both internal departments and/or external entities.
  • Prepare reports, manage, and analyze data for the unit.
  • Oversee and manage the web content of the unit. 
  • Compile and assess customer service survey results.
  • Assist with Professional Judgment review.
  • Assist with incoming financial aid emails and phone calls.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of federal student aid programs and the rules and regulations governing financial aid. Working knowledge of financial aid management software and query language scripting are essential skills.  Excellent customer service and communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and enforce complex rules and regulations, and demonstrated management experience are also required.
