Purpose of the Position:                                                                       

As a Student Finance Quality Assurance Processor, your mission is to maintain compliance across all Student Finance departments during the determination, awarding, disbursement, and return of Federal Student Aid (FSA) funds. We conduct regular quality assurance evaluations to enhance our existing processes and procedures. Additionally, we review and address approved past-due aid, collaborating with relevant teams to resolve account issues and ensure timely processing of financial aid packaging revisions.

 

What you’ll do:

  1. Title IV Funding Management: Review past-due and expected Title IV funding. Take appropriate actions to resolve issues affecting payment of these funds. This includes handling Pell adjustments.
  2. Documentation Accuracy and Awarding: Receive and meticulously review student files for completeness and accuracy. Ensure that Title IV aid is awarded correctly based on the student’s FSA eligibility. Return incorrect or incomplete files to Student Finance Advisors.
  3. Process Improvement and Knowledge: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, actively participate in implementing new procedures, and maintain a thorough understanding of Title IV regulations. Adhere to Director’s goals and metrics for the SF Quality Assurance team. Provide guidance to Advisors and Planners regarding Title IV and Student Finance policies and procedures.
  4. NSLDS Review and Compliance: Regularly check the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to review student default status, overpayments, and total aggregate loan limits. Maintain compliance with federal regulations.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Financial Aid experience and/or working knowledge of Title IV Regulations.
  • Must not have a federal student loan appearing on the National Student Loan Data Base (NSLDS) database with an unresolved default status reported.
  • Must be eligible to access the NSLDS.
  • Skills – organization, time management, attention to detail, personal accountability, integrity, and adaptability to high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Any degree and/or any strong or advanced proficiency in the above required skills/experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in the higher education industry.
  • 6 months’ experience at UMA Education, Inc.
  • 1+ year of experience in awarding/administering Federal Title IV funds with a post-secondary education institution.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills or abilities – customer service, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.
  • COD and advanced experience with Campus Nexus.

 

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. 
  • Participates in activities including, but not limited to, student recruitment activities and/or activities related to securing financial aid.

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position, with occasional planned onsite travel required.
  • Home office set up, a quiet place to work, and the ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
