Function:
To assist in providing and managing financial aid to the students of the University of Pikeville by performing the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Assist students with the FAFSA, entrance, promissory notes, and other processes needed to complete award processing.
- Review FAFSAs and follow up with student/parent to correct issues.
- Process corrections/updates on FAFSA and Department of Education systems.
- Assist with undergraduate awarding, packaging and disbursement process.
- Document collection and review of special conditions applications.
- Meet with students/parents to review and understand the elements of their financial aid package.
- Discuss funding options for families (parent loans, private loans, payment plans, etc.).
- Should attend at least one training per year and as many online trainings as time will allow to stay on top of regulations.
- Process R2T4 for students withdrawing from the university.
- Assist with keeping the policy and procedure manual up to date.
- Assist with keeping publications and website up to date.
- Some reconciliation tasks for student aid programs will be necessary.
Reports to: Director of Financial Aid
Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure, or request for exception is required.
Education/Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma is required.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in higher education or related field.
- Must be able to multi-task and maintain good customer service skills
- Expected to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is highly recommended.
- Experience with Ellucian is preferred.
- Exceptional decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to stressful, changing work situations and responsibilities.
- Knowledge in higher education, student accounts and financial aid is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to speak to a group of people about financial aid related material.
- Some office hours outside of 8-5 may be required.
- Cannot be in default with Federal Student Loans
