Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews a variety of documents submitted by students and received as part of the student's overall aid application to evaluate and determine student eligibility for financial aid and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. Some of these responsibilities include: Verification review and analysis; Student Aid Report (SAR) Comment Codes evaluation; Federal Direct Stafford, Parent PLUS Loan and Private Loan processing; Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal reviews; Unusual Enrollment History (UEH) and academic transcripts review and analysis; Appeal for Special Consideration (Professional Judgment) review and evaluation to determine whether special circumstances exist and whether adjustments to the student’s application are warranted; Budget Adjustment Requests evaluation; and assist with the management of specific state aid programs including evaluation of eligibility, awarding, and reconciliation.
Serve as the Analyst on Call during shifts scheduled in advance. The Analyst on Call assists and responds to tier 2 inquiries (those that have been escalated or were unable to be resolved by front-line staff) that come in during the scheduled shift. Resolution may require research, system troubleshooting, contact with other staff, or further escalation.
Provides excellent customer service when communicating (via phone, TigerHelp request, email, or in person) with students, families, and University employees to inform them of the status of student aid applications, any outstanding requirements, and responding to general inquiries.
Responsible for evaluating student eligibility for aid; calculates and processes financial aid awards.
Reviews students’ yearly and cumulative aid limits to avoid over awarding students. Reviews loan limit problems and make adjustments to current loans which is essential to maintaining the Institution’s Title IV Aid eligibility.
Assists in updating policy, publication and office procedures pertaining to assigned areas of responsibilities.
Review and evaluates student aid eligibility for summer session.
Other duties as assigned which may include assisting other financial aid areas depending upon the needs of the office.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and one year of relevant experience. Relevant experience may substitute for required education.
